Technical Specification

Material and Manufacture:

The OMEGA hoop is manufactured from Bright Drawn Mild Steel to BS EN 3B CNC machined and TIG welded in the UK.

Dimensions:

The hoop uprights and lintel are 5/8 " (15.8 mm) round section (according to Law 2(b) (i) and Law 50(d) UK CA laws) with a tolerance of +/- 0.002 " (0.08 mm). General manufacturing tolerances of +/- 1 mm are used for the hoop components.

The carrots are machined from solid to tolerances of +/- 1mm on diameters and +/- 2 mm on length. The top of each carrot includes a 24 mm across flats hexagon to accomodate a standard 24 mm spanner.

Weight:

The OMEGA hoop weighs 2.4 kg (5.28 Ib)

Finishing:

The finishing is with an etched primer and a polyester powder coat. (Alternative finishes are available).

Nominal setting:

The nominal spacing of the uprights is 92 mm +/- 0.5 mm (3.78 " +/- 0.020 ").

Adjustment:

Rotation of both carrots through 180° gives a total adjustment of the upright spacing from 92 mm to 100 mm (3.62 " to 3.94 "). Use of a 12" (304 mm) spanner gives an adjustment sensitivity of approx 0.002 " movement of the upright per 1 " movement of the end of spanner.
